World leaders from the U.K., Canada, Ireland, Argentina and Australia requested a meeting on November 27th with Mark Zuckerberg. The purpose, to grill him on his role in spreading fake news and failing to protect users' personal information. ![]() However, Zuckerberg did send his Vice President of Policy Solutions, Richard Allan, to take the verbal beating. "In this room we represent over 400 million people and to not have your CEO sit in that chair there is an offence to all of us in this room and, really, our citizens as well" said Bob Zimmer, chairman of Canada’s committee on access to information, privacy and ethics. Earlier this month, the U.K. data protection chief found evidence that Facebook user data was accessed by addresses linked to previous cyber-attacks AND to Russian locations. This finding occurred AFTER Facebook was fined £500,000 (the maximum possible) for failing to protect data! |
